Dot Art provides a safe, fun, and welcoming space currently for children ages five to ten to explore new possibilities in art. In the past, we have provided similar opportunities to youth and adults and hope to be able to do that again in the near future. Our experienced teachers, artists, and volunteers inspire children to experiment with familiar and new materials, as well as help to establish and foster a love for creating. Dot Art LEAD, Programs

Fast Hiring. Starting salary is $25/hour with growth opportunities contingent upon grant funding and charitable giving.
We are looking for a creative, outgoing, flexible and independent Lead, Programs focused on art teaching to join our team reporting to our new Executive Director. We are currently interviewing candidates on an on-going basis and aim to make an offer the last week of April 2024.

Responsibilities include providing developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques in collaboration with our Head of Exemplary Programing, preparing lessons and sourcing art supplies. Dot Art lessons and projects encourage creativity and self-expression and the Lead Art Teacher is expected to be attentive and responsive to themes in students' art. The person in this role ensures that learners interact in a supportive and respectful manner.

This is a part-time to full-time role. You will be requested to work full school break vacation programs (8:30AM to 5:30PM).

Additionally, you will be requested to work Saturdays occasionally (community-studio sessions and/or fun pop-ups).

Expected Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead all Dot Art programming including Saturday Studios, holiday sessions and school vacation weeks. 

    • Plan and deliver instruction to students on art, art techniques, art history, art theory, and aesthetics.

    • Discuss various artistic approaches and traditions and encourage students to express themselves artistically.

    • Facilitate discussions where students have an opportunity to talk about their own artwork and their peers’ artwork in a constructive and thoughtful manner.

    • Supervise and provide mentorship to teachers and assistant teachers.

    • Participate in interviews with Executive Director.

    • Collaborate with Executive Director on onboarding for new instructors and program/community volunteers

    • Communicate with parents and selected community partners.

  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts, share ideas and proposals.

  • Purchase art materials and maintain the inventory of art materials.

  • Prep and clean up before and after sessions.

  • Maintain studio in organized and clean manner

    Self-checked and paid individual CORI, is required if you are shortlisted for which you will be reimbursed.

    Applicants must be at least 18 years old and there is no age limit. Individuals with special abilities and diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants with limited recent and/or direct experience teaching exemplary arts education programs, though ideally with an educational background in the visual arts. Knowledge sharing and capacity development opportunities will be provided through onboarding and mentorship.

    No formal dress code, casual and creative work attire welcomed. Hybrid.
